When you leave our shop if you turn left and wander down Fossgate you will find a little gem of a delicatessen and coffee shop on the right hand side called The Hairy Fig . There are lots of independent traders in York which makes it stand out from many other cities but we do have two large department stores which are family run businesses, namely Fenwick in the Coppergate Centre and Browns on Daveygate.

If you do happen to find yourself in the Coppergate Centre you may want to spend some time looking around the Jorvik Viking Centre. If it’s history you are interested in then you will find the Hungate Dig centre on St. Saviourgate. Still in need of a taste of the past? Then just outside the centre of town (just a few minutes walk) you will find the National Railway Museum on Leaman Road or you could check out Micklegate Bar Museum on Micklegate. By now you’re probably in need of a sit down so don’t forget that you don’t have to visit all the sights on foot. You can always take a ride down the river on one of the York Boats . based on Lendal Bridge or hop on one of the many open top busses run by York Pullman If, however, you are still feeling a bit energetic you can always hire a bicycle from York Cycle Hire.

On Sunday morning you might want to join in a
service at York City Church Monkgate or St. Michael le Belfrey Minster Yard or grab a coffee and have a chat at Elim Church at St. Laurence’s Primary School in Heslington Road.
